Before Capitalism

2016 – 2026

Rondolini’s work reflects on the diverse ways of conceiving femininity by investigating sculptural figures from indigenous cultures in different regions, with the aim of recovering the perspectives of pre-capitalist tribal societies. Her research gathers ways of understanding femininity that are not shaped by the logic of the market, productivity, and individualism. Through this approach, the artist recovers thoughts and images linked to worldviews where humanity and nature are deeply integrated.

In contrast to these perspectives, the artist introduces a contemporary gesture that alludes to the dynamics of the disputes that permeate the representation of the feminine in the present. Strokes made with plaster function as a vandalistic gesture that reflects the violence present in current paradigms, attempting to capture the prevailing logic and opening a space for reflection on how femininity is constructed, strained, and transformed in different contexts.
